The Boulder Bar project is a complete outdoor transformation for a Sun Prairie, WI homeowner who wanted a functional, beautiful backyard retreat. Four of Six Landscape designed and built a custom outdoor bar with a handcrafted wood countertop and wood table, surrounded by a pergola, decorative trellis, and privacy screen—all custom landscape carpentry built on-site. Layered landscape lighting creates ambiance after dark, while bluestone hardscaping and refreshed planting beds tie the entire space together into a cozy outdoor living environment.

Custom Landscape Carpentry Built for Outdoor Living

At the heart of this project is a one-of-a-kind custom outdoor bar, built entirely by the Four of Six carpentry team. The bar features a solid wood countertop finished for outdoor durability, paired with a matching custom wood table for additional seating and entertaining space. Every element—from the overhead pergola to the flanking trellis and side privacy screen—was designed to work together as a cohesive structure that provides shade, definition, and architectural interest to an otherwise open backyard.

Landscape Lighting, Bluestone & Bed Enhancements

Thoughtfully placed landscape lighting extends the usability of this outdoor bar well into the evening, illuminating the carpentry features and casting a warm glow across the space. Bluestone was incorporated into the hardscape design, adding a classic, refined material that complements the natural wood tones. Refreshed landscape beds frame the perimeter, softening the hardscape edges with seasonal plantings that bring color and texture throughout the growing season.
