Japanese Inspired Enclosure Gallery Published on by Nate This is the site prior to constructing the new Japanese Garden. A view down the deck steps prior to construction. This is the conceptual design created for the space. Slight changes were made for the final layout. Construction begins! Our Limestone step is installed and our gravel for the walk is compacted. The walk is complete and the outer trellises are being built. The layout for the gravel garden has been determined. Trellises are complete and the gravel garden is prepped. A look at the space after gravel has been installed. The new entryway for the Japanese Garden. Plenty of textures were utilized to create interest. The horizontal trellis contrasts nicely with the stone and plants. A view from within the Japanese Garden showing the Limestone Step separating the two spaces. Trelliswork is installed between existing deck posts to match the rest of the graden. Thicker boards were used on the bottom of the trellis, whereas thinner ones were used on top. Boulders were specifically chosen to add character to the space. The gravel surround helps set them off. A look down the new Bluestone walkway. Have a seat! The same sized boards were used for the bench as the trellis to create continuity. The site had great tree canopies which is showcased behind our trellis. We used Limestone Cobbles to retain existing stone mulch. Limestone wall stone was installed as a paver to match the step. Great color for this specimen boulder! Although rather small when installed, both shrubs will hold their own when mature. Another look at the trelliswork between existing deck posts. Natural stone helps age the project compared to concrete pavers.
